FAQs.

Can I have microcement in a wet room?

Yes, as microcement is waterproof, it is suitable for wet rooms and steam rooms. We can also create bespoke baths and sinks in microcement for a seamless finish. Please refer to the preparation section below.

Is microcement suitable for worktops?

Yes, microcement is a durable, heat proof and waterproof finish that can be applied on top of existing surfaces as well as fresh on to marine ply. We would recommend that any new surfaces created with marine ply are glued and screwed for extra strength and reduction in risk of movement.

Can microcement be applied on top of existing tiles?

Yes, with the appropriate preperation, we can apply microcement on to existing tiled areas to avoid additional mess or for example if underfloor heating is already existing under tiles. Microcement is approximately 3-5mm thick so please bear this in mind when choosing this route.

Aftercare.

Microcement aftercare.

We use a Renovator after the sealers on all of our microcement floors and worktops to protect the sealers. This can also be applied by the client, 3-4 months post installation as additional protection.

Microcement cleaning process.

On all microcement surfaces we recommend using cleaning products with a neutral PH scale such as ‘method’ or warm soapy water. Avoid using bleach as this will damage the sealers and may cause discolouration. For tougher stains, using small amounts of ‘The Pink Stuff’ proves to be efficient, however as with bleach, do not leave this on the surface for longer than a couple of minutes to avoid any permanent damage.
